When the gate valve is closed, the sealing surface can be sealed only by the medium pressure, the sealing surface of the ram is pressed to the other side by the medium pressure to ensure the sealing of the sealing surface, which is called white sealing. Most of the gate regulators adopt forced sealing, when the wide door is closed, it is necessary to rely on external force to force the sniffer plate towards the adjusting seat to ensure the sealing of the sealing surface.

When opening the valve, when the lifting height of the ram is 1:1 times of the regulating valve diameter, the fluid passage is completely smooth, but this position cannot be monitored during operation. In actual use, the top point of the reading rod is taken as the sign, that is, the position that cannot be opened is taken as its full open position. In order to take into account the locked phenomenon of temperature change, it is usually turned back 1/2-1 circle at the top position as the full opening position of the control valve. Therefore, the full open position of the valve is based on the position of the ram.
