As an extremely important globe valve, the sealing of the globe valve is to apply torque to the wide rod, which exerts pressure on the pin in the axial direction to make the regulating sealing surface closely fit with the regulating seat sealing surface, and the sealing medium is along the sealing surface to stop leak from the gap between them.

The sealing pair of the globe valve is composed of the sealing surface of the lubrication path and the sealing surface of the valve seat. The valve rod drives the valve flap to move vertically along the centerline of the valve seat. The opening height is small during the opening and closing process of the globe valve, which is easy to adjust the flow, convenient to manufacture and maintain.

Compared with the gate valve, globe valve is simpler in structure and easier to manufacture and maintain. In terms of service life, the sealing surface of the globe valve is not easy to wear and scratch, and there is no relative sliding between the valve bear and the sealing surface of the valve seat during the process of opening and closing. Therefore, the wear and scratch of the sealing surface is small, so the service life of the sealing pair is improved. The valve travel is small and the height is relatively small during the full opening and full closing process of the cut-off valve.

The disadvantage of the globe valve is that the opening and closing torque is large and it is difficult to achieve rapid opening and closing, because the flow channel in the regulator body is relatively tortuous, high dynamic resistance causes great loss of fluid power in the pipeline.
